We are halfway through December and on our way to a new year. This is a particular time of year when we reflect on what has passed and what will come.

It also means that you should be looking to see what technology trends will be significant in the coming year. Digital capabilities are becoming more powerful. Let’s look at the top technology trends of 2022.

Virtual Reality (VR)

Want to be able to communicate with others in the privacy of your home? After the pandemic, VR technology has seen rapid growth. We are all familiar with 3D simulations. VR is an immersive experience that uses 360-degree digital environments. This inspired the creation of an immersive reality involving virtual connections. Downloadable apps or web VR are the driving force behind VR technology. You can access it via a browser.

Edge Computing

Edge computing is a method of processing and analyzing data near its source. It is a more efficient version of cloud computing, which reduces bandwidth consumption and increases real-time processing.

Gartner estimates that today, less than 10 percent of the data generated by enterprises is processed and created at the edge. This is expected to increase to 75% by 2025. It will be interesting to watch how this trend develops in 2023.

Genomics

We know that more information leads to discoveries. Genomics is the branch of science concerned with genome structure, evolution, and mapping. It’s a fascinating field! Combining it with AI and data analysis software is even more exciting. You can expect to gain a lot of valuable insights in healthcare.

Genomics studies the interrelationships, influence, and collective characterization of an organism’s genes. The advances in genomics have led to a new era of discovery-based research, systems biology, and the ability better to understand complex biological systems such as the brain.

Quantum Computing

Quantum mechanics is something that only some of us understand. Researchers use parallel calculations and quantum mechanics principles to enable quantum computing. This new generation of super-fast computer systems uses quantum bits called “qubits” to process information instead of regular bits.

Quantum computing can help us overcome simulation limitations for material science, chemistry, and other fields that use nano bricks based on quantum mechanics.

Note that the leading economies see quantum computing (in a strategic sense) as a technology with emerging potential.

Hyper automation

You are a business leader, always looking for ways to make your company more productive and agile. Hyper automation will help you achieve your goals. In 2022 we will see it boost AI, low-code, and no-code and grow cybersecurity. We also noticed that more and more SMBs were opting for hyper-automation. Ultimately, this allows them to enhance human capabilities without replacing them entirely.

You must be wondering about what the year 2023 will bring us.

It was a great experience to present my webinar on the top tech trends for 2023. If you cannot attend the webinar, the recordingĀ is available here.

You can also download an infographic in PDF format that summarizes my tech predictions. (Along with some bonus predictions!) You can also message us if you share any other technology trends.
